Since Chris Sale was being saved for a possible Game 163 or Game 1 of the ALDS, it allowed Jake Peavy to get one extra start for the regular season, and it also allowed Jake Peavy to take over first place in the Pitchers Poll.
Though Peavy only wins the point total. When it comes to points per inning pitched he's overtaken by Sale.
This year Peavy averaged 1.43 points per inning. Sale checked in at 1.58.

The other big climber this week was Hector Santiago who did everything but hold up a giant sign that said "I want to be in the 2013 starting rotation" during his start against Cleveland on Monday. He was brilliant, and while the Indians not caring definitely played a role, it was still nice to see.
It was also nice to see Gavin Floyd finish strong, scoring 38 points in the final two and half weeks of the season. If he returns next season and pitches like he did in September, this team won't miss Jake Peavy nearly as much.
Last week's rankings can be found here.
