White Sox 6 Twins 0: Just A Regular Old Boring Win
Considering the amount of stress that has surrounded White Sox games this week, particularly with some of the baffling decisions made by Robin Ventura in key situations, tonight's 6-0 win over the Twins was just what this White Sox fan needed.
A nice and easy win that was never in doubt.
It's also nice to win a game that we're absolutely supposed to win. The Sox don't always do that after all. Often enough, in fact, that when you look at a pitching matchup and see Chris Sale is going against Esmerling Vasquez a part of you thinks "oh man this loss is really going to suck."
But it didn't. Yeah, the Sox lineup frustrated me with its lack of patience against a pitcher that made it painfully obvious he couldn't throw strikes consistently to save his life. Thankfully they caught on after a while, and even Dayan Viciedo walked twice.
Hell, he walked in consecutive plate appearances, the first time he's had multiple walks in a game this season. I feel like should take that eighth ball and have it encased as a souvenir.
Then there was Chris Sale who abused a terrible Twins lineup the way he should abuse it. While it does bother me that he needed 99 pitches to get through 6 innings, he allowed only 3 hits, didn't walk anybody and struck out 5.
In fact, no White Sox pitcher gave a free pass tonight. When was the last time we could say that?
