During yesterday's game I addressed some rumors that I had heard and were at the time blowing up on White Sox message boards about A.J. Pierzynski.
The rumors were that Pierzynski had tested positive for PEDs and was appealing the test, but would soon be suspended for the rest of the season.
Don't worry, he hasn't.
Contrary to rumors that have been flying for nearly a week, a league source told 670 The Score Thursday that the White Sox reached out to Major League Baseball and were assured that catcher A.J. Pierzynski will not be suspended for using a banned substance.
The word back from Major League Baseball was that there is nothing to the rumors, according to the league source.I had heard about the rumor not from a message board or from Twitter, but from an outside source who contacted me on Wednesday morning. This source told me the same story that would be circulating the internet later that afternoon, but when I pressed this source for where they were getting this information, they were very elusive.
Still, I did what anybody else would do in this situation, I went about trying to find if I could find another source that could confirm the story. I couldn't, so I didn't do anything with it.
As I said on Twitter about the rumors yesterday, I came to the conclusion that somebody was just taking Pierzynski's recent slump and connecting too many dots.
He wasn't distracted mentally by a suspension hanging over his head, he was just crashing back to earth after playing way over his head for the first four months.
Hopefully now that these rumors have been killed A.J. will begin to concentrate on baseball again.
