White Sox 5 Rangers 4: USA! USA! USA!

Well, if you can't play Toronto on Independence Day, I suppose beating Texas is as close as you're going to get to beating someone from another country.

Much like the Revolutionary War, things didn't get off to the best of starts for our American heroes, as the bluecoats who are sometimes the redcoats scored 3 runs off of Dylan Axelrod in the first inning.

Our heroes would respond, however, with four runs of their own in the second inning to take a 4-3 lead. Josh Hamilton would tie it up for the Rangers in the third, and then a whole lot of not scoring happened over the next couple of hours.

Which was nice to see from Dylan Axelrod, as he recovered from the rough start to last into the sixth inning before the bullpen took over. Axelrod was not pitching as well as he did against the Yankees last week, but he was still able to battle against a lineup that's just as tough, if not tougher.

After trading zeroes for the final five innings, the White Sox had a special guest appear in the dugout to give the team a pep talk.

Then the White Sox killed the aliens and Kevin Youkilis smoked a cigar with Will Smith. It was pretty cool.

  1. Axelrod continues to impress me with his ability to remain calm and confident even after getting roughed up a bit.

Feel free to vent about how much any player sucks, but no hate speech directed at anybody, be it a player or a fellow commenter.
