There comes a point during every long winning streak when a team actually becomes bored with winning all the time. The thrill starts to die down a bit, and you find yourself wondering if you can still feel pain.
Or at least, that's what I'm telling myself following Friday night's win.
After building a 4-0 lead the Sox decided to blow their lead just because they could, and because of the boredom. I mean, they knew they were playing Seattle, so it's not like they were ever scared they were going to lose.
So after the Sox gave themselves a reminder of how the normal people live for a couple minutes, Paul Konerko decided to hit a line drive off of Michael Saunders face. Enjoy this video reenactment below.
Zach Galifinakis is a terrible outfielder.
Anyway, the Sox were able to come back and win the game by scoring 3 runs in the eighth inning thanks to Zach Galifinakis' bad defense, and Brendan Ryan double-clutching a slow-roller from Alexei Ramirez.
However, the true offensive hero in tonight's game was Gordon Beckham, who had the first multi-homer game of his career, and to do so against Felix Hernandez. The Sox should have Gordon's parents come to every game.
