Week 8 Hitters Poll: Picking Up The Slack

With their slow start to the season, I was pretty worried what was going to happen to the White Sox when guys like Paul Konerko and Adam Dunn leveled off or went through slumps.

Well, apparently the Sox would just keep on winning. This week Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko combined for a whopping total of 3 points. And the Sox only lost once.

Here are the latest rankings.

RANKPLAYER POINTS LW+/-
1Paul Konerko 219 1 -2
2Alejandro De Aza 197 4 26
3A.J. Pierzynski 195 3 17
4Adam Dunn 184 2 5
5Alex Rios 169 5 26
6Dayan Viciedo 148 625
6Gordon Beckham 148 735
8Alexei Ramirez118 8 19
9Brent Morel 33 9 0
10Orlando Hudson 23 10 4
11Tyler Flowers 21 10 2
11Brent Lillibridge 21 12 5
13Kosuke Fukudome  18 13 3
14Eduardo Escobar 12 14 6

Not surprisingly, the biggest climbers this week were Gordon Beckham, Alex Rios, Dayan Viciedo and Alejandro De Aza. De Aza took advantage of the slow week by Dunn to jump all the way from fourth to second.

The other positive trend is that every bench player on the team actually earned points this week. Part of that is due to everybody playing on Sunday, and part of it is due to those guys not only playing, but playing well.

Still, look at the gap between Alexei Ramirez and Brent Morel. Yeah, a lot of that is because Morel's been on the disabled list, but a lot of that is also because when he wasn't, he was pretty terrible.

Last week's poll can be found here.
