Jose Quintana is lucky that picking up wins doesn't mean a whole lot in these rankings or else the White Sox offense would be keeping him buried further down than he is. After climbing five spots last week Quintana threw another 8 scoreless innings this week and climbed up a bit higher in the rankings.
How far did he climb?
| RANK | PLAYER | POINTS | LW | +/- |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jake Peavy | 159 | 1 | 23 |
| 2 | Chris Sale | 151 | 2 | 16 |
| 3 | Gavin Floyd | 99 | 3 | 12 |
| 4 | Jose Quintana | 65 | 6 | 14 |
| 5 | Phil Humber | 62 | 4 | 0 |
| 6 | Nate Jones | 53 | 5 | 0 |
| 7 | Matt Thornton | 46 | 7 | 6 |
| 8 | Addison Reed | 45 | 8 | 6 |
| 9 | Jesse Crain | 39 | 10 | 3 |
| 10 | Hector Santiago | 36 | 8 | -3 |
| 11 | John Danks | 34 | 11 | 0 |
| 12 | Zach Stewart | 21 | 12 | 0 |
| 13 | Will Ohman | 13 | 13 | 0 |
| 14 | Dylan Axelrod | 10 | 15 | 4 |
| 15 | Eric Stults | 7 | 14 | 0 |
| 16 | Brian Bruney | 2 | NA | 2 |
Yep, even though he only joined the rotation a few weeks ago and has made half the starts Phil Humber has, Jose Quintana has passed him in the rankings. Somewhat ironic that this year's Phil Humber is passing last year's Phil Humber.
Other than that, there's not much to talk about here. Though I should point out that before last night's game Chris Sale was in first place, if only by a point. Which means that should Sale have a good start on Wednesday he'll likely jump right back into first place.
And stay there until Peavy's next start.
Last week's poll can be found here.
