Much like the Hitters Poll, there was no Pitchers Poll last week. Also much like the Hitters Poll, there weren't many changes in the rankings.
Though there was one Sox pitcher who jumped up quite a few spots. Do you think you can guess who it is? I may have left a hint for you up top.
Oh you're so smart!
| RANK | PLAYER | POINTS | LW | +/- |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jake Peavy | 136 | 1 | 14 |
| 2 | Chris Sale | 135 | 2 | 21 |
| 3 | Gavin Floyd | 87 | 3 | 8 |
| 4 | Phil Humber | 62 | 4 | 8 |
| 5 | Nathan Jones | 53 | 5 | 6 |
| 6 | Jose Quintana | 51 | 11 | 30 |
| 7 | Matt Thornton | 40 | 7 | 7 |
| 8 | Addison Reed | 39 | 8 | 7 |
| 8 | Hector Santiago | 39 | 9 | 8 |
| 10 | Jesse Crain | 36 | 10 | 6 |
| 11 | John Danks | 34 | 6 | 0 |
| 12 | Zach Stewart | 21 | 12 | 4 |
| 13 | Will Ohman | 13 | 13 | 5 |
| 14 | Eric Stults | 7 | 14 | 0 |
| 15 | Dylan Axelrod | 6 | 15 | 0 |
Yep, Jose Quintana jumped up five spots because he pitched really well in his two starts the last two weeks while everybody else pitched pretty poorly. You're probably wondering how Phil Humber and Gavin Floyd picked up any points, but remember this is two weeks and there were two starts -- actually I think Gavin made three starts -- since the last rankings.
So their points are all from basically existing to eat up some innings over that time. Certainly not because they did anything well.
Other than that, the only thing of consequence in the rankings this week is that Chris Sale now trails Jake Peavy by only a point.
Last week's rankings can be found here.
