Cubs 2 White Sox 1: Walk, Don't Score Runs

Here are the pitching lines from tonight's starting pitchers.

Pitcher 1: 9 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 5K

Pitcher 2: 6 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 5K

Guess which pitcher was on the winning team.

There's no excuse for this one. Jake Peavy versus Travis Wood is supposed to work out the same way that Matt Garza versus Zach Stewart works out.

Wood came into this game 0-3 with a 4.82 ERA. He then went out there and walked 4 guys and allowed 4 hits, and the Sox could muster but a run. Even though they had the bases loaded with 1 out in the second inning.

On the night Cubs pitching walked 7 hitters. When White Sox pitching walks 7 guys, the White Sox give up roughly 5 or 6 runs at a minimum. When you walk 7 White Sox, the Sox can't even score 2 right now.

I don't care that it's against the Cubs, a loss like this just blows period. There was the Zach Stewart debacle on Monday night, followed by the John Danks news, and then this loss that knocks the Sox back into second place after Asdrubal Cabrera hit a walk-off home run against Aroldis Chapman in Cleveland.

It's been a pretty terrible 27 hours to be a White Sox fan.

Good thing Gavin Floyd is pitching tomorrow!

  1. This is just making it easier for Kenny to trade Peavy at the deadline.
