Ever since opening day of this season Paul Konerko has held the top spot in my power poll. Considering he was hitting at like a .400 clip those first two weeks, this was not hard to understand.
Still, given the way that Adam Dunn was routinely hitting mammoth home runs and Konerko's slow decline to "really good," it was only a matter of time until The Big Donkey caught up to The Captain and surpassed him.
That time is now.
| RANK | PLAYER | POINTS | LW | +/- |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Adam Dunn | 135 | 3 | 32 |
| 2 | Paul Konerko | 126 | 1 | 8 |
| 3 | Alejandro De Aza | 124 | 2 | 17 |
| 4 | A.J. Pierzynski | 108 | 4 | 15 |
| 5 | Alex Rios | 85 | 5 | 20 |
| 6 | Alexei Ramirez | 71 | 6 | 16 |
| 7 | Gordon Beckham | 61 | 7 | 16 |
| 8 | Dayan Viciedo | 41 | 8 | 10 |
| 9 | Brent Morel | 30 | 9 | 4 |
| 10 | Kosuke Fukudome | 15 | 10 | -2 |
| 11 | Brent Lillibridge | 10 | 11 | 3 |
| 12 | Eduardo Escobar | 7 | 13 | 9 |
| 13 | Tyler Flowers | 6 | 12 | 1 |
Now, while it's nice to see Adam Dunn ascend to the throne, it's somewhat problematic when the only other hitter to climb any spots in the rankings is Eduardo Escobar.
As for the performances themselves, you'll be shocked to find out that the Sox offense really didn't do much of anything this week. While Dunn broke the 30-point barrier, Alex Rios was the only other player to reach 20 points. Everyone else was rather mediocre.
Last week's poll can be found here.
