This is going to start getting ugly. After the first few weeks of the season, John Danks was the only real question mark in the starting rotation, but I wasn't exactly worried about him being terrible all season.
Now he has to stop being terrible because once you get past Jake Peavy and Gavin Floyd it's best to just avert your eyes.
Look at this mess.
| RANK | PLAYER | POINTS | LW | +/- |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jake Peavy | 79 | 1 | 12 |
| 2 | Gavin Floyd | 60 | 2 | 13 |
| 3 | Chris Sale | 49 | 3 | 10 |
| 4 | Addison Reed | 24 | 6 | 2 |
| 5 | Phil Humber | 23 | 5 | -3 |
| 6 | John Danks | 22 | 6 | 0 |
| 7 | Matt Thornton | 19 | 4 | -8 |
| 8 | Jesse Crain | 16 | 8 | 0 |
| 9 | Hector Santiago | 14 | 9 | 4 |
| 10 | Nathan Jones | 12 | 10 | 3 |
| 11 | Zach Stewart | 8 | 11 | 3 |
| 12 | Jose Quintana | 7 | NA | 7 |
| 13 | Dylan Axelrod | 6 | 13 | 4 |
| 13 | Will Ohman | 6 | 11 | 1 |
| 13 | Eric Stults | 6 | NA | 6 |
Now, Chris Sale stays in third place because of what will be his final start of the season, and we better hope he starts tumbling down this list or else the Sox will be in a lot of trouble.
Also, do you notice who is in fourth place on this list? I bet Robin Ventura doesn't. The bad news for Addison Reed is that Matt Thornton was in fourth last week and he went out and had a terrible week.
Then there's Jose Quintana, who came in as a reliever on Monday, pitched wonderfully and finds himself ahead of three others in spite of one appearance. Which is why he was shipped back to the minors on Monday night.
Last week's poll can be found here.
