Not a whole lot of shakeups in the rankings this week, as the top six players in last week's poll all remain in the same spot this week. The only difference is that Paul Konerko is widening the gap between himself and the rest of the team.
And while that has a bit to do with how well Paulie is hitting this first month of the season, sadly, it has just as much to do with how poorly the rest of his team is hitting.
Here are how things stand now, after the first month of the season.
| RANK | PLAYER | POINTS | LW | +/- |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Paul Konerko | 101 | 1 | 25 |
| 2 | A.J. Pierzynski | 78 | 2 | 8 |
| 3 | Alejandro De Aza | 77 | 3 | 10 |
| 4 | Adam Dunn | 70 | 4 | 12 |
| 5 | Alex Rios | 51 | 5 | 10 |
| 6 | Alexei Ramirez | 37 | 6 | 12 |
| 7 | Dayan Viciedo | 23 | 9 | 10 |
| 8 | Brent Morel | 22 | 7 | 2 |
| 9 | Gordon Beckham | 13 | 8 | -2 |
| 10 | Brent Lillibridge | 10 | 10 | 0 |
| 11 | Kosuke Fukudome | 9 | 12 | 4 |
| 12 | Tyler Flowers | 6 | 11 | -2 |
| 13 | Eduardo Escobar | 1 | 13 | 0 |
Now, what you might not notice just by looking at this chart without seeing last week's is the dip in production from everybody. In the Week 2 poll, five players scored 25 points or more in the previous week: Paulie, A.J, De Aza, Dunn and Alex Rios.
This week Konerko was the only player to reach 25 points. Nobody else accumulated more than half that.
Which goes a long way to explaining how the Sox went 1-5 since last week's poll.
Last week's poll can be found here.
