Tigers 5 White Sox 4: Ain't That A Kick In The Head
For a few hours there the White Sox were playing so well that I was actually thinking about something other than Chris Sale.
Jake Peavy was pitching another masterpiece.
Gordon Beckham was looking like rookie Gordon Beckham, going 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI, finishing only a triple shy of the cycle.
It was looking like the Sox were going to beat the Tigers for the third time in four games.
But then Alex Avila hit a broken bat blooper just over Alexei's head, and then Jhonny Peralta, he of the lost H, took a fastball Matt Thornton left over the plate and deposited the ball into the right field stands.
Game over. Tigers win 5-4.
Just a kick in the nuts on a day that had already been pretty painful with the news that the Sox have lost a possible ace.
Worst. Day. Ever.
