Angels 7 White Sox 2: It Was All Mickey Hatcher's Fault

What came first: the fired hitting coach or the White Sox?

Well the fired hitting coach came first because the Angels fired Mickey Hatcher long before their game began against the Sox on Wednesday night, but it doesn't matter which one you choose, the end result is still the Angels hitting the ball hard all over the place.

It's late, so I don't want to get too deep into this one, but the Angels were hitting Gavin Floyd all over the park. So much so that both Albert Pujols and Vernon Wells were able to recover their home run strokes for a night.

The White Sox actually hit the ball hard themselves, well, not Brent Morel, but the rest of the lineup did. Unfortunately for the Sox, those linedrives were hit at people.

The Angels had a man there, and there, and there, and there.

Dayan Viciedo continues to get hot, though, homering again tonight. Viciedo went 3-for-4 to raise his average to .237 and also got another outfield assists by nailing Mike Trout at second when he tried to stretch a single into a double.

Of course Viciedo would start heating up just as Robin Ventura says that Adam Dunn will play left field this weekend at Wrigley Field, but this does not mean you should start wondering about putting Viciedo at third base.

I SAID DON'T.

Yes, Brent Morel is terrible, but putting Dayan Viciedo at third with Dunn behind him in left? Does this seriously sound like a good idea to you?

Aside from that, even if there wasn't a single ball hit at Viciedo at third the entire weekend, why would you want to throw re-learning third base on his plate when he just started swinging the bat well?

Did you like him better hitting .176?

If anything Alex Rios should get a day or two off while at Wrigley over the weekend.

  1. All games that end after I fall asleep on the couch should be stricken from the record.

  2. At what point will Morel be excused from the line up? Game 150?
