White Sox Trade For Greg Golson

Finally, after sitting on his hands for the last couple of months, Kenny Williams pulled the trigger on a big deal sure to shake the very foundation of the White Sox organization, and maybe all of Major League Baseball.

The Sox traded for outfielder Greg Golson, getting him from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations.

I don't know about you, but I'm printing up some World Series Champions t-shirts to sell.

Seriously, I don't expect this move to have any real impact on the White Sox roster. Golson will likely be nothing more than organizational depth to help fill the hole left behind by Brandon Short's injury. That being said, this is the White Sox, and they are still run by Kenny Williams.

So an incredibly fast outfielder who doesn't make a lot of contact, and doesn't walk a lot could find himself on the fast track to Chicago.

The 26-year old Golson is a former 1st round pick of the Phillies, and in the 42 plate appearances he's had over the last four years with the Phillies, Rangers and Yankees, Golson has a line of .195/.214/.244.

So, yeah. Get excited.
