Sorry I didn't write anything about games over the weekend, but I had the weekend off from work and I just generally avoided all things laptop and spring training baseball games. That being said, I have a fantasy baseball draft in an hour, so this will be short and sweet.
THOUGHTS AND THINGS
- Nice job, Johnny Danks. Danks went 7 innings and allowed only 3 earned runs while striking out 4 and walking nobody. He was rewarded for this performance by having Robin Ventura officially announce that he'd be starting on opening day against Texas.
- Dayan Viciedo got two hits!! Both were singles to right field, and one drove in a run. He also struck out again, bringing his spring total to roughly a bazillion, but that average is up to .140!
- Paul Konerko is ready for the regular season. Paulie had another 3 hits on Monday and has been hitting everything in sight for about the last week. Let's hope he can carry it over into April.
- Can we stop trying to steal so many bases? Seriously, the Sox had another two baserunners thrown out trying to steal on Monday. Which means that the Sox have stolen 15 bases this spring, but have also been thrown out 13 times. A 54% success rate just isn't worth it. I'm sure that a lot of this is just to get an idea of who Ventura feels he can give the green light to during the regular season, or at least I hope it is. I'm all about being aggressive, but sometimes too much aggression costs you runs.
