Spring Training Game #15: White Sox 5 Cubs 3

Awwwwwwwwww yeah, we got us a winning streak!

Didn't see the game as it wasn't televised anywhere, and I didn't listen because the only thing worse than listening to Darrin Jackson on a radio broadcast is listening to Darrin Jackson on a radio broadcast during a spring training game.

THOUGHTS AND THINGS
  • Zach Stewart wasn't very good. He allowed 2 runs in 3 innings and did strikeout 3, but he also gave up 6 hits and his ERA this spring is now up to 5.00. With the way others are pitching this spring, Stewart has no guarantee that he's going to start the year in the bullpen.
  • Especially if Dylan Axelrod keeps pitching like this. Axelrod had been having struggling a bit so far this spring, but he threw 3 perfect innings on Sunday and struck out 3.
  • Dan Johnson responds to Eduardo Escobar. Escobar homered on Saturday and Dan Johnson homered on Sunday. The battle for the last position player on the roster is probably going to be the most "exciting" battle the next few weeks.
  • Another day without a hit for Viciedo. Though at least he didn't strike out. Still, his average is down to .143 after going 0-for-2.
  • Jordan Danks is a hero. It was Danks' home run in the 10th inning that proved to be the game-winner. Jordan is still striking out a lot this spring, but he's also hitting .333 and could be a darkhorse candidate for a roster spot.
