Spring Training Game #12: Indians 12 White Sox 3

Are we having FUN yet?
This game was on MLB.tv today, but MLB.tv made the mistake of broadcasting a White Sox game on a feed without Bill Melton on the same day that the NCAA tournament began. As a result I watched exactly zero pitches of this game.

Judging by the final score, I made the right call. So let's look at the box score and find reasons to begin cutting ourselves like teenage girls who just got dumped.

THOUGHTS AND THINGS
  • Dylan Axelrod continues to fight. He's looking more and more likely to get a spot in the bullpen and as a possible starter should the Sox suffer an injury or finally pull the trigger on that Gavin Floyd trade we all know is coming. He went 3 innings today and allowed only a run while striking out 2.
  • Jhan Marinez and Babymeat got rocked. The White Sox tied this game up in the sixth thanks to some #WILDPITCHOFFENSE, but then Marinez and Donnie Veal decided to give up 8 runs between them while recording two outs. Neat.
  • A.J. Pierzynski answered. A.J. saw Tyler Flowers hit his second home run of the spring on Wednesday, a bomb, and then decided he had to add one of his own on Thursday.
  • The offense is still uninspiring. Aside from the days the team decides to explode for a bunch of runs, they're not doing much hitting this spring. The Sox managed 8 hits today, but none came in the first four innings, and nobody in the lineup had more than 1. Combine that with the pitching performances we've seen, and it's not hard to see why the Sox are 3-9 this spring.
