The White Sox Have Signed Scott Olsen

The White Sox have countered the Tigers signing of Prince Fielder, you guys!

Jerry Crasnick tweeted on Wednesday that the Sox have signed lefty Scott Olsen. It's a minor league deal that includes an option for 2013.

There is no invite to minor league camp included in the deal.

Olsen signed with Pittsburgh last year but was released in May after dealing with some shoulder problems. Problems that generally aren't easy to overcome, but he was decent with the Marlins for a few years before moving to Washington and posting a 5.76 ERA in 28 games (26 starts) over two seasons.

He's also a local kid from Crystal Lake.

Still, the first thing I think of when it comes to Olsen is his penchant for fighting with teammates. Something an incredibly handsome blogger documented back in 2007.
