Victor Martinez Has A Torn ACL

While we're not going to sit here and celebrate a player's injury, we're also not going to pretend that this isn't good news for the White Sox and everyone else in the AL Central not named the Tigers.

The Tigers announced on Tuesday that Victor Martinez had suffered a torn ACL and will likely miss the entire 2012 season.

A pretty big blow to the defending division champions. Of course, while this improves everybody else's chances in the division, I don't think it's enough to say the Tigers still aren't the favorite.

While Miguel Cabrera will likely have a much harder time going after the Triple Crown without Martinez protecting him, this is still a team with Justin Verlander and plenty of other talent.

So unless Cabrera and Verlander suffer some kind of calamitous accident -- we're not saying you should cut the brakes on their cars, but we're not telling you not to either -- then the Central is still Detroit's to lose.
