|The world's most dangerous 11th inning hitter|
Every day during the MLB postseason, NotHawk will "recap" the games that took place the day before. Just so you don't have to watch, because he's charitable like that.
TEXAS 7 DETROIT 3
Ron Washington and Jim Leyland were in a contest last night. A battle to see which manager could do the dumbest thing and get away with it. We saw a player get intentionally walked with one out, nobody on base and in a tie game. We saw a player attempt to steal second base even though it meant that the chance Miguel Cabrera would get to bat in the bottom of the 10th inning in a tie game was no longer likely to happen. Then we saw a manager intentionally walk a guy with a bad knee who hadn't hit a ball out of the infield all night to face a batter who hit a grand slam in the 11th inning a few nights before. In the 11th inning. That man was Nelson Cruz, and he hit another home run to make a 4-3 game a 7-3 game, and Jim Leyland lost (won?) the Dumbass Contest.
Texas leads the series 3-1
ST. LOUIS 4 MILWAUKEE 3
The Hawkaroo didn't watch a lot of this game because the ALCS was still going on for most of it, but I do know that Mark Kotsay hit a home run. Yeah, that Mark Kotsay. Mark Kotsay also did this.
Kotsay did all this and the Brewers still lost because the Cardinals bullpen completely dominated the game for the last four innings.
St. Louis leads the series 2-1
