Extra Innings: 10/10/11

Extra Innings is a link dump that will run every weekday evening that features news stories that The Asylum didn't get to that day, or just posts throughout the White Sox blogosphere that are worth your attention.

- Mark Parent is going to be Robin Ventura's bench coach, and Joe McEwing will be coaching at third base. So McEwing will be the guy Paulie gives the "are you shitting me?" look anytime he's waved home. [ESPN Chicago]

- Speaking of White Sox assistants, there could be a lot less walks in Atlanta or San Diego next season. I hope it's San Diego, because Walk's "swing really hard and hope you hit it" approach will work well in PetCo. [Beerleaguer]

- South Side Sox gets in the time machine and takes a look back at the fight between Robin Ventura and Nolan Ryan that we're all gonna hear about a million more times. [South Side Sox]

- The fact that Mark Buehrle will likely be a Type B Free Agent makes it even less likely he'll be back in Chicago next season. It also makes it less likely that Kenny Williams would waste a first round draft pick, so, win-win? [Chicago Tribune]
