Extra Innings: 10/7/11

Extra Innings is a link dump that will run every weekday evening that features news stories that The Asylum didn't get to that day, or just posts throughout the White Sox blogosphere that are worth your attention.

- Just in case you haven't read it yet, here's Joe Cowley's story on Don Cooper: Evil Mastermind that got so much attention. I know a lot of people are in a tizzy over this, but as someone who knows Cowley, I can assure you he's not making this up. He's writing what he's been told, and if it isn't true, that's only because somebody is lying to him. [Chicago Sun-Times]

- And here's Don Cooper calling Cowley a liar! [CBS Chicago]

- The Captain gives Robin Ventura his approval. [Chicago Tribune]

- As does Gordon Beckham. Though I'd appreciate it if Padilla actually put "scoff!" in Bacon's quote where he supposedly scoffed. [ESPN Chicago]

- Brett Ballantini tries to figure out who Ventura's coaches will be, and makes a good point by saying that it's far more likely Harold Baines becomes the next hitting coach than it is Frank Thomas. Still, having a statue is apparently a requirement. [CSN Chicago]

- Margalus tries to wrap his head around what it all means. And by it all, I mean the hiring of Robin Ventura. [South Side Sox]
