Extra Innings: 10/3/11

Extra Innings is a link dump that will run every weekday evening that features news stories that The Asylum didn't get to that day, or just posts throughout the White Sox blogosphere that are worth your attention.

- Jim takes a look at the last few manager searches the White Sox ran and comes to the conclusion that WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE. No, he says we'll be fine. Just relax. [South Side Sox]

- Paul Konerko has been selected as the White Sox nominee for the Hank Aaron Award, because who the hell else were the Sox going to nominate? Also, he deserves it. [White Sox]

- I retweeted it on Monday, but Peter Gammons tweeted about Kenny saying the Sox were going to let the kids play next season. Which led Doug Padilla to start wondering about what that means for Carlos Quentin. [ESPNChicago]

- I really hate when Phil Rogers writes something that I don't totally disagree with. [Chicago Tribune]

- An interesting piece on FanGraphs about how much a general manager is really worth. [FanGraphs]

- Speaking of general managers, according to the Baltimore Sun, Rick Hahn is on the Cubs' short list. [Baltimore Sun]

- Has Joe West been tamed? [Hardball Talk]
