Extra Innings: 10/17/11

Extra Innings is a link dump that will run every weekday evening that features news stories that The Asylum didn't get to that day, or just posts throughout the White Sox blogosphere that are worth your attention.

- A look at what is to become of the catching situation between A.J. Pierzynski and Tyler Flowers. As I've said a few times, I think the Sox would be better off trading Pierzynski, but that's a lot easier said than done considering his age, price tag and no-trade clause. Still, I just feel that if Pierzynski's around, Flowers won't get the playing time he needs. [Chicago Tribune]

- Trying to figure out which White Sox outfielder should play where based on their arm strength. I have no real preference between Viciedo and Rios and which corner they play, just as long as Rios is not playing in centerfield, then I won't complain. [South Side Sox]

- Speaking of the outfield, the man that many assume will be the odd man out and traded, Carlos Quentin, is still trying to figure out a way to balance his murderous rage. [White Sox]

- One less reason to watch Baseball Tonight during the World Series. [Deadspin]

- Apparently NotHawk has begun writing for The Onion. [The Onion]
